HOW IT ALL STARTED

Hey Dood Gear LLC. was founded Summer of 2020 after I got my first dog. I had bought a nice soft blue nylon leash with a matching collar, it seemed fine, why wouldn’t it be? It was just a dog leash! Well, I soon realized that I had made a big mistake by buying a cheap Nylon leash, after just a little over a week of use the leash was a totally different shade of blue, it was caked in mud, knotted, it reeked wet dog and our new puppy had definitely peed on it at least a couple times. I spent almost an hour trying to scrub all the grime out of it with dish soap and a toothbrush, but it was just a waste of time. No matter how much I scrubbed, more and more dirt just kept coming out. Why didn’t they make waterproof dog leashes? Nylon leashes were such a waste! I started doing some digging to see if there was an alternative material that was waterproof and easy to clean. I eventually found some companies that made all sorts of dog gear out of a material called “BioThane“, apparently it was waterproof, stinkproof and incredibly easy to clean. It sounded revolutionary! The only problem was that most companies I had found sold their leashes for around $65… for a regular leash, I didn’t have that amount of money to spend on a leash so I starting looking into making one myself the cost of the BioThane itself, hardware and tools was way more than the price of just buying a leash from a company, so I decided to learn how to work with the material and make my own business out of it!
