BioThane is a polyester webbing that’s been coated in PVC which makes it fully waterproof and prevents it from absorbing odors. Dirt and grime is unable to soak into the material meaning it remains on the surface and can easily be wiped off using a damp rag. BioThane is also UV resistant, meaning it will not fade even after prolonged exposure to sunlight and the colors will stay true.

As you probably know, dogs tend to be very messy and stinky, BioThane combats that by being waterproof, stink-proof, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, UV-resistant and easy to clean! BioThane dog gear is huge game changer for all dog owners, it means no more leashes caked in mud that have no chance of getting clean again, no more collars that reek of dead fish from the lake. One of the many qualities of BioThane is that all dirt and grime remains on the surface of the material making our gear super easy to clean!

To clean your gear, use a damp rag and wipe down the material. For tougher areas you can use a drop of dish soap. Thoroughly dry any hardware after use in water to prevent tarnishing.

We use various types of metal on our gear including nickel and zinc. Nickel is rust resistant but can tarnish over time while zinc is not rust resistant. To minimize rusting or tarnishing, fully dry the hardware after use in water and store in a dry area when not in use.

The PVC coating prevents things from soaking into BioThane, meaning everything remains on the surface of the material. But with that being said, surface stains can occur. Most surface stains occur as a result of inks and dyes but stains may also occur as a result of algae or moss sitting on the material.

The best way to prevent staining is to clean  your gear after it gets dirty and not let grime sit on it for too long.

Most stains can be removed with diluted bleach. Make sure use diluted bleach, straight bleach can remove the color.
