Mobility Gear Use and restrictions

Hey Dood Gear makes harnesses for service/ assistance dogs with orthopedics in mind. We offer a variety of attachments and handles to fit each handlers needs. If you intend to use any of our products for weight bearing mobility tasks, be sure to consult an orthopedic veterinarian beforehand to ensure it’s safe for you and your dog. An orthopedic veterinarian may take x-rays of your dog to make sure their joints are in tip-top shape, they may check the fit of the harness on your dog and ask you to demonstrate the tasks you plan to use the harness for.

Hey Dood Gear will not make upright handles taller than 6” or guide handles further than 10” off a dogs back. 

We do not offer counterbalance or guide attachments on harnesses with a girth of 25”or smaller.

Our harnesses are not made for bracing or any downward pressure, and using them for such would be unsafe and could possibly harm you or your dog.

Improper use of mobility gear will result in you being banned from further purchases with us. 

All of our products are made from BioThane webbing which has a PVC coating making it fully waterproof, which makes our gear perfect for water adventures with your furry companion. We recommend always thoroughly drying the hardware on your gear after use in water to prevent possible rusting or tarnishing. 

We have tested our hardware to ensure that rust occurring from use in water doesn’t structurally affect our gear, and is just cosmetic damage.

Use in salt water is not recommended as it can degrade hardware faster making your gear not last as long. If your gear is exposed to salt water rinse the hardware thoroughly with cold water and fully dry. 

Hey Dood Gear does not offer refunds, returns or exchanges unless a ‘maker mistake’ occurred. A maker mistake may be, wrong color, wrong size, missing an add-on, faulty/ unusable hardware or severe cosmetic flaws. Since our products are handmade every time there may be very minor cosmetic flaws and inconsistencies between the same product which we try our best to avoid. 

We will not refund, replace or exchange products because of general wear and tear or damage from chewing, rust, chemical damage or misuse.

Hey Dood Gear is not liable for damage or injury that occur as a result of misuse of our products. Gear should be inspected before use to ensure it has not sustained any damage that could cause safety issues. Only use gear for its intended purpose, and do not leave gear on your dog when unattended or kenneled. It is the customers responsibility to determine which products are a good fit for their dog and their strength and activity level.

Hey Dood Gear reserves the right to refuse service. 

We feel that it is important to refuse service to certain customers to protect the values of our business as well as protect our customers and their dogs.

As a business that commonly makes gear for customers with the intent to use it for weight-bearing mobility tasks, we value safety of dogs over the money we may get from an order. Customers purchasing a harness are required to answer questions regarding the purpose of the harness, and occasionally we will have to refund an order if we deem the use is unsafe.
